A static discharge pad is one of the means of dissipating (Neutralizing) Static charge on the human body when touched with palm. Construction of Static Discharge Pad: Two static dissipative polymeric sheets are fixed on an acrylic sheet with about a 3.0 mm gap. These two sheets are connected to LED (Green) with a 9.0 V Battery. A ground connection is provided at the top left.

Principle of Working:
Personnel, during normal activity, generates an electro-static charge on the body and gets stored in capacitance thereof (Typical value 150 to 220 pF). When a person, having acquired a charge above 50 Volts, touches the pad, the electrostatic charge slowly discharges to earth through the pad surface and built-in resistors. This discharge energy activates the L.C.D. to display ESd., and it disappears when the body loses the charge.
The pad may not display when there is high humidity in the atmosphere when personnel wearing static dissipative footwear and the personnel are not charged. Since this product is power-free, this is particularly suitable to dissipate static charge build-up on personnel in areas like zone-1, Hydrogenation, explosive Handling, petrochemical, mining, electronics, etc.
